Festa Della Mamma

February 21st, 2017

Caffè Vivo usually has a day of rest on Sundays but not on Sunday 26th March. We’ll be open for lunch to give ‘Mamma’ a well-earned rest. We’re keeping things simple, just like the Italians do, with a Fixed Price Menu which will include traditional heart-shaped cheesecakes for dessert. So, gather the family, enjoy some quality time together and express a little thanks to the person who made it all possible – your ‘Mamma’. A MACCHERONI MASTERCLASS

February 9th, 2017

Italians are renowned for being one of the most romantic nationalities – they are literally in love with love. If you can’t afford to whisk your loved one away to the country itself to celebrate la festa degli innamorati (the day of lovers), fear not because we have the next best thing – this month we share with you a lesson in pasta making - after all they do say the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach.

Marvelous Mallard

January 3rd, 2017

Winter brings with it an abundance of hearty game and one bird that really stands out is wild duck, or mallard if you prefer. Wild duck is much smaller than a farmed duck, less fatty and with darker meat. The meat from wild duck is uniquely outstanding – deeply rich and full of flavour. In season until around the end of January, you’ll be able to catch it on the menu this month (subject to availability of course). We’re talking roasted breast and slow-cooked leg, because tasting the varying flavours of the whole bird is the best way, served with suitably Italian accompaniments of truffle mashed potato and cavolo nero.

Wake Up and Smell the Truffles

October 31st, 2016

Autumn brings with it the anticipated and prized white truffle. A culinary delicacy and one of the most valuable foods, white truffles are a type of fungi that grow underground near to certain types of trees. They’re hunted by pigs or dogs and are dug for, just like buried treasure. We will be savouring the white truffle this November as Head Chef, Emanuele gives diners the option to add a touch of class to their food. Choose whatever you want from the menu – be it pasta, risotto, salad, a meat option or a bowl of fries and decide whether you’d like to add shaved white truffle and how much.
