National Vegetarian Week
This week, celebrate National Vegetarian Week at Caffe Vivo with our special ‘Vegetariano Menu’.
Italians embrace fresh vegetables and skipping meat is no big deal in the country. Apparently, Italy even has the highest percentage of vegetarians in Europe and the city of Turin is considered Italy’s first ‘vegetarian city’.
Most Italians have a very vegetarian-friendly diet and this goes back in history. It’s only after the Industrial Revolution that the Bel Paese has seen opulence and luxury. Before that, meat was seen as a luxury item that not all members of society could afford, especially in rural areas of the Peninsula. Therefore, various classic Italian dishes often reflect the years of meat-free eating. Although Italians do love their carne, there’s so much choice for the vegetarians and that’s what we’re celebrating this 15-21 May at Caffe Vivo.
Italian dishes have a wealth of vegetarian possibilities, from pasta to polenta. There’s so much delightful meals based on vegetables and seasonal produce that employ traditional Italian preperations. Caffe Vivo are proud to celebrate the variety from grains, eggs, legumes, incredible olive oil, vegetable sauces to hearty soups.
For one week only, go Vegetarian the Italian way. Enjoy 2 Courses for £12.50 and 3 Courses for £15, available 15-21 May, Monday – Friday from 12.00pm – 10.00pm Saturday 12.00pm – 7.00pm. Phone 0191 232 1331 to reserve your table.
